“Show us Houston in 90 Seconds” Contest Rules
Contest Overview:
Participants are challenged to create an original short film that tells a compelling story in just 90 seconds. The film can be of any genre, but must follow the guidelines below.
Theme or Subject “HOUSTON”:
- Create a 30-90 second video in the city of Houston (or surrounding neighborhoods).
- Content can include anything that interests you in or about our city – its diverse culture, your favorite spots to vlog or film, great eats, meet-ups, or any other ideas pertinent to the theme you want to showcase.
Genres: all genres are welcome—comedy, drama, horror, documentary, etc. However, films must be suitable for all audiences, adhering to family-friendly content guidelines (no excessive violence, explicit language, or adult themes).
Rules:
Film should follow the assigned theme of “Houston.”
- All content must be original: no copyrighted music, footage, or other materials, unless the participant has the rights to use them. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
- Format: films must be submitted in MP4 or MOV format, with a minimum resolution of 1080p. Vertical or horizontal formats are acceptable.
- Runtime must be 30-90 seconds or less, including credits (if any). Submissions exceeding this time will be disqualified.
- Language & Subtitles: films in any language are accepted, but if dialogue is in a language other than English, subtitles must be provided.
- Films must be suitable for all audiences, adhering to family-friendly content guidelines (no excessive violence, explicit language, or adult themes).
- One Entry Per Participant: each individual or team (of no more than 4 members) may only submit one film.
- Teams: films can be created by individuals or teams of up to 4 members. Team members must be credited in the final submission.
- Copyright Agreement: By entering the contest, participants grant the organizers permission to showcase their films on Houston Camera Exchange’s website, social media, and other promotional channels. Filmmakers retain the rights to their work.
- Disqualification: Any film that fails to adhere to these rules will be disqualified.
How to Submit:
- Upload the film to Instagram prior to the deadline.
- Tag us and 2 friends in the comments (on Instagram).
- Submission Deadline: Films must be submitted by November 30, 2024. Late entries will not be considered. Winner will be selected early December, 2024.
- Prize: Winner will be awarded a brand-new Sony ZV-E10 II
