Studio Lighting for Beginners with Sony's Scott Sitkiewitz

The session will be divided into two parts:
Educational Lecture (11:00am – 12:30pm)– covering essential concepts and equipment
Hands-On Photo Session (1:30pm – 3:30pm)– where participants will photograph a live model using multiple lighting setups
Topics Covered:
Strobe vs. Continuous Lighting – understanding the pros and cons of each
Light Modifiers – exploring umbrellas, softboxes, and more to see how they shape light and impact your images
Reflectors – using bounce light as a creative and practical tool
Sync Speed – what it is and why it matters in studio settings
Flash Metering – how to properly measure light for accurate exposures Connecting to Lights – overview of sync cords, hot shoes, and wireless triggers
This class is ideal for photographers who are new to studio lighting and want to build confidence working with professional tools in a supportive environment.
Bio: Scott Sitkiewitz is a photographer and educator with over 20 years of experience. He ran a successful portrait business for 15 years, specializing in maternity, newborn, and family photography using artificial lighting in his home studio. He later expanded into product photography and has taught a variety of photography classes at his local camera store. Scott is passionate about sharing his knowledge and helping others grow their photography skills.
